Acupressure (a blend of "acupuncture" and "pressure") is a complementary medicine technique derived from acupuncture. In acupressure deep but gentle pressure is applied to acupuncture points (Acupoints) by the therapists fingers, hands, elbows, or with various devices such as cups. These Acupoints lie on energy pathways called Meridians and when these points become blocked they can manifest in the body either a physical or emotional discomfort. The pressure releases these blockages and allows the body and mind to relax.
Hannah also uses glass cups during the acupressure session. Held by suction, these cups help to expel toxins, improve circulation and release tight muscles. Stationary cups are left on the skin for a period of 5 to 10 minutes on particular meridian points, helping to release any stagnant energy and dispel internal heat. Moving cups use oil so the cup can glide over the skin to help release tension and congestion in the muscles.
